The L-Acoustics SB118 is a high-performance passive subwoofer enclosure designed to extend the low-frequency response of professional sound systems—such as the ARCS, KUDO, or XT lines—down to 32 Hz. While now considered an archived product by L-Acoustics, it remains widely used in fixed installations and touring for its compact footprint and high output.
Operation and Configuration
The SB118 must be powered and managed by L-Acoustics LA4 or LA8 amplified controllers. These controllers provide the necessary DSP presets for specific deployment modes:
- Standard Mode: Omni-directional coverage for general use.
- Cardioid Mode: Used in arrays of four or more to achieve rear rejection of up to 10 dB.
- Hybrid Mode: Allows a subwoofer and a main system (like ARCS or XT) to be driven from a single amplified controller.
