The Electro-Voice XLD281 is a high-output, 3-way very compact line-array element designed as the core component for constructing EV’s X-Line Very Compact (XLVC) sound reinforcement systems. Weighing approximately 22 kg (48 lbs), it is heavily favored for venues where space and sightlines are limited—such as theaters, houses of worship, performing arts spaces, and corporate AV events—without compromising on full-bandwidth coverage.
- Driver Configuration: Built with two 8-inch DVN2080 neodymium woofers (one handling Low Frequency and the other handling Low/Mid Frequency) paired with two ND2S-8 titanium compression drivers.
- Waveguide & Coverage: Features a nominal 120° horizontal x 10° vertical coverage pattern. The compression drivers route through two Hydra plane wave generators into a specialized waveguide.
- Acoustic Output: Delivers a maximum SPL of 137 dB continuous / 143 dB peak with a frequency response spanning 75 Hz to 18 kHz (-3 dB).
- Operation Modes: Supports advanced tri-amp operation, or bi-amp operation utilizing a sophisticated internal passive crossover network.
