The Electro-Voice XLD281 is a high-output, three-way line array element designed for the X-Line Very Compact (XLVC) series. It is a dual 8-inch system engineered for both live reinforcement and permanent installations in venues such as houses of worship and performing arts centers.
Core Technology
- Coverage Control Technology (CCT): Uses both 8-inch transducers and advanced DSP to maintain horizontal coverage down to 200 Hz, reducing mid-bass “blur” and providing precise sonic control.
- Transducers: Features two DVN2080 8-inch neodymium woofers for low and mid-low frequencies, and two ND2S neodymium compression drivers for high-frequency output.
- Hydra Waveguide: The high-frequency drivers use two Hydra plane wave generators to feed a 120° x 10° waveguide for consistent vertical coupling in arrays.
Design & Rigging
- Compact Footprint: Weighs only 21.8 kg (48 lbs), making it suitable for venues with limited weight-bearing capacity.
- Rigging: Fully captive aluminum rigging allowing for 1° increments. It is supported by the LAPS II modeling software for precise aiming.
- Weatherized Version: The XLD281-FG variant is made of fiberglass and is fully weatherized for outdoor use (IP55 rated).
