The DiGiCo SD9 Core 2 is a compact, integrated digital mixing console that utilizes Stealth Digital Processing and Super FPGA technology. Unlike larger modular systems, the SD9 houses its processing engines internally, eliminating the need for a separate FOH Rack.
DiGiCo SD9 Core 2 Console
The console is designed for portability and high channel counts in a small footprint. The “Core 2” designation refers to a significant firmware/FPGA upgrade that expanded the system’s processing capabilities.
Stage Rack Options
The SD9 typically connects to remote I/O via Cat5e or MADI. Several rack options are commonly used with the SD9:
- D-Rack:
- Weight: 22 lbs (10 kg).
- I/O: Provides 32 microphone inputs and 8 line outputs (expandable to 16 outputs).
- Form Factor: Floor-mounted or 7U rack-mountable.
- D2-Rack:
- Weight: 28.7 lbs (13 kg).
- I/O: Features 48 inputs and 16 outputs (expandable to 32 outputs).
- Form Factor: 9U rack unit.
- SD-Rack:
- Weight: 57.3 lbs (26 kg) unloaded.
- Form Factor: 10U rack unit compatible via optional Optocore or MADI.
FOH Rack (Front of House)
The SD9 does not use a separate FOH Rack. All Stealth Digital Processing and FPGA engines are built directly into the console chassis. This differentiates it from larger DiGiCo systems (like the SD7 or SD10) or the Digidesign Venue D-Show, which require external rack-mounted “brains” for processing.
